Anil Kumar Sculptures(Concept Note) Chalti chakki dekh kar, diya kabira roye
Do patan ke beech me,Sabut bacha na koye
In my sculptures, there is an attempt to show the philosophy of life from creativity to mortality, frangibility impermanence of life through as easy, and facile, spontaneous and simple forms as possible. Two elements are visible in my sculptures- 1. Dandakaar (cylindrical) form 2. The base or seat to hold or to fit that cylindrical form. These two elements are like an integral part of our life. These tools are used not only in mundane every day life like in kitchen, but also they are essential part of preparing life saving drugs. The same concept is discernible in the forms of my sculptures. The meaning of these forms is not restricted to this narrow form of life; instead it is much wider and deeper than that. Going back to the couplet, which I started my article with,
Diya Kabira Roye) Kabir cries out, is the literal meaning however, what makes the reader to contemplate on this Doha and realize for oneself the hidden meaning behind this metaphor. Dui Patan here signifies earth (Prithvi) and sky (Akash) and within the ambit of these is all creation and life as also the manifestation of all natural phenomenons of dualities: day and night, life and death, joys and sorrows, thereby making life forever in motion (Chalti Chakki) and an ever changing process. Trapped in this duality, whatever we see is perishable. Nothing that we comprehend its axis and also symbolizes Shiva-Shakti, overall it is an epitome of the entire cosmic energy hence also alludes creation, continuance or maintainance and universal dissolution (srishti, sthiti and laya). These two elements are the factors of attaining the ultimate attainable in human life (sadhya) the state of advaita (non-duality) through spiritual practice (sadhana). In this contest these two elements also symbolize the body (deha) and its energy- soul (dehee). The cultivation of oneness begins with two only. From duality (dvaita) to non-dual state i.e Oneness (adwaita) the two elements of my sculputres!!!!
